I am, by nature a high functioning human. What does that mean? That means that I have to have a ton of things on my plate in order to thrive and be happy. I keep the majority of my insane life organized using a paper planner, here’s what I do.
I start my week off by finding a quote that embodies how I want my week to go. In the picture you can see my quote for this week was, “be patient, everything comes to you in the right moment”. I like to set the intention and put it some place where I can see it all week. Then I like to set some goals, followed by some personal notes to self like, “remember to have grace with yourself”. I do all of this prior to starting my actual planning because it is so easy to lose track of what we need. Some weeks, like the one above are lighter than others but I always make sure to set my intention.
I organize each of my classes by color, if you have kids you could organize each of their schedules by color. Really, any group of items can be organized this way. Call me a child but I love getting new colorful pens to play with! I put a small box by each task so I can check things off as I go. I’m the type of person who loves checking boxes! And yes I am also that person who puts something down I’ve already done just so I can check it off!
The key to maintaining organization is setting aside time to be organized. For me, I cut out time on the weekends to get ready for my week. Just like meal prepping, getting my life organized via a planner is part of how I prepare for each upcoming week. Find yourself a system that works for you! Whether that be a paper planner, an app on your phone or even a to-do list for each of your days. Also, listen to and respect your limits. I know that I can balance many plates but I also know that I do have a limit to what I can handle. There is a fine line between being productive and accomplishing tasks and feeling overwhelmed and stressed out.
